So this is Nikoli Argos III in his most human-like form.

This form is known as Jinteki. Almost like a satyr, exept canine rather than goat.

For ages I've always imagined his natural fur color in this form more a sort of auburn color. But as I was working on the sheet, i just felt that a more typical gray worked better.
Yes, he's not naturally a purple. The strange fluke about the Yajumi changing their hair as Jinteki, it affects their entire coat in both their other forms. Hence why he is such a purple fellow.

He has tattoos, as in Yajumi cultue (and generally in many Shi'Imoran cultures) They are very important and are believed to hold magic properties. Though, unlike with hair color, the tattoos in no way show on their fur in the other forms. The swirly tattoo on his right arm is symbolic of 'storm'. While the tatoo on his other arm is like a royal emblem.

Lastly, your eyes do not decieve you. He is indeed wearing some make up. In Shi'Imora as a whole there isnt any seperation between how males should decorate themselves or how females should. All adornment is generally, unisex. It's really only in the small populace of humanity and a few species or tribes that there have been set differences between what men should wear and what females should dress in, etc.
